You can also visit multiple shrines, Bitchū Matsuyama Castle in Takahashi (there is only 12 original castles left in Japan), Izu Peninsula known for pure water and a caldera lake Tazawako, the deepest lake in Japan. There you can stay in the oldest operating ryokan with a fireplace, which dates back to the Edo Period and provides authentic rustic atmosphere.
