The Prada has achieved huge success that became possible, as the founder considers, thanks to careful observation and curiosity about the world. This company managed to create almost fashionless fashion – some of its things became iconic. The history of the fashion brand is always the story about extraordinary personalities, who were inspired with certain idea and managed to inspire others with it. The same is referred to Mario Prada, who was, certainly, a very creative person and soon the triangle logo of the company became known over the ocean.

The history of the brand started in 1913. Prada sold luxury leather accessories, which were targeted at wealthy customers, first of all. The elite customers had turned into dedicated followers of this brand.

The company started as a small family business, but with time, it turned into one of the mightiest fashion houses of the world, which survived all financial crises. Could a simple Milan citizen imagine that his company would establish fashion trends in the world in the next century? Undoubtedly, it deserved to become one of the leaders. Its innovative approach to fashion and accessories played a decisive role.

Prada starts manufacturing nylon after long research and development of this product. It made a real revolution in the fashion world and determined its trends for years to come.

Mario Prada did not think that women should do business therefore he did not want female members of the family rule the company. But the son wasn’t interested in this work at all and his daughter Luisa took over the business.

Prada MiucciaThe granddaughter of the founder, Miuccia Prada enters the business in 1978. It was not an easy period for the company then. The competition was strong. But forward thinking designers’s talent of Miuccia Prada helped the company to overcome it and gain a wider international recognition.

First footwear collection was launched in 1979. In 1983, Prada opened its store in Milan and in 1986 – in New York and Madrid. After this, the stores in Tokyo, Paris and London followed.

First men’s Prada collection appeared in 1993. At the same time, Miuccia Prada creates her own brand Miu Miu. The target audience are women in fashion avant-garde as it represents the most sophisticated modern trends. One of the interesting projects launched then is Milano Prada Arte that is aimed at gathering the most challenging provocations in different art spheres such as cinema, architecture, culture, philosophy and etc.

In 2000, Prada launched it eyewear collection.

Prada always employs a creative approach to everything, even to shopping. With this thought in mind Prada Epicenter on Broadway, New York, was launched in 2001. This is a kind of experiment that is addressed the process of interaction with customers.

In 2005, Prada presents its film at the Berlin Film Festival. The film “Thunder Perfect Mind” was created in collaboration with Ridley Scott and his daughter. The challenges of being a woman were revealed in it.

A year later Miu Miu enters the official calendar of Paris’ Prêt-à-Porter runway. At this year, the first masculine fragrance was released to the market.

In 2007, the LG manufactured the Prada phone. Over 1 million items were sold within a year and a half – as long as it was on sale.

The brand marked its 100th anniversary in 2013. Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli managed to turn the family brand into a mighty empire of fashion. Classic style, clean lines and excellent quality of fabrics made Prada an unsurpassable brand. The company has always predicted the trends and led the way, so it will never fail you as you try to find your image with it.
